The courses that helped me meet this requirement were; Span 304, Span 425, Span 321, Span 309. All these courses were about literature, history of literature, and history in general. Span 304 was in introduction to hispanic literature in which we learned about the literary movements and some of the most important authors. With what we leaned in this course we are able to tie it into the next courses in which we went more in depth by taking clases specific to Mexican literature and literature form Spain. With regards to the culture and history I took Span 309 : History and Politics of Latin America. In this course we learned about he colonial period of latin american communities and how they reached their independence. In each chapter of the text we were also able to learn about the political and cultural aspects of the Latin America. For every chapter we had to write summaries of what we had read to show our comprehension on the topic.
