Reading and discussion of selected masterworks of literature as they reflect the historical, political, and social context of the Peninsular Spanish experience. Students will be introduced to reading and writing critically, and discussing both form and content within these works. All discussions will be carried out in Spanish.
This class was divided by literary movements in Spain. Within each section we had a variety of different authors that belong to that era and we read examples of their work. We had tests for each literary movement and for the end of the semester we had to choose an author and with a partner present it to the class. Some of the authors we talked about in the class were: Gustavo Adolfo Becquer, Leandro Fernández Moratín, Miguel de Cervantes, Jorge Manrique, and Lope de Vega. For the final presentation we had to choose between some of the authors that we hadn't discussed in class and we chose to do our presentation on Soledad Puertolas.
